But who is the much anticipated artist for the coolest Roman party of the moment?
Phase Fatale and his art from New York to Berlin.
Resistance Is Techno presents one of the big players in the current alternative music scene, Phase Fatale.
Thisis the Berlin-based techno project of Hayden Payne.
Research and experimentation distinguish his sound with a dark aftertaste, and his compositions with a post-punk industrial character fully tell the story of his complex and articulated background. A New Yorker by birth but living in Berlin, Phase Fatale has combined different artistic influences, thus managing to recreate the right alchemy of "underground" sounds while always remaining in perfect balance between tradition and avant-garde.
Growing up listening to bands such as The Sisters Of Mercy, Killing Joke or The Cure and with a father active in the American music scene of the 1980s, Phase Fatale has thus been able to develop a decidedly strong and bursting musical awareness. For a long time a niche artist, finally with the release of his latest album he has been able to carve out his absolutely well-delineated musical space within the chaos of the international scene. A soundsystem capable of changing the set-up of current techno and otherwise, of releasing the restlessness of those who want to let themselves go on the dancefloor unrestrained.
The uncontrolled contamination between technology and electronic music and his rough sound have determined the unmistakable character of his productions and have given vigor to that wilder sound of the techno genre, so much so that it has permanently marked his vision of club culture.
Over the past 10 years he has worked on several projects with post-punk / coldwave sounds although it was only in 2017 that he gave birth to his first full and well-structured album, Redeemer, followed by a more extensive mix made together with Silent Servant.
Redeemer is the first work that goes, in a way, beyond the vision of techno in the strict sense, through a mixture of different elements with an industrial and electronic imprint. The different tracks represent a very personal work and were recorded as conceived and thought of by the musician. The artist himself describes this mix as the darkest part of his psyche, the sonic narrative of what disturbs him in everyday life.
Redeemer testifies to strong artistic growth and a desire to shake off any predetermined label.
The intense, dark sound of "Order Of Severity," "Beast," "Human Shiled," and "Operate Within" rewrites the existing language, creating a truly remarkable cocktail of sound combinations.
