The king of Detroit's underground. Eric Dulan, aka DJ Bone, on Friday, Nov. 8, at Rashõmon Club.
Considered a Techno legend, Eric Dulan, aka DJ Bone, started out as an old-school underground Detroit DJ and producer. A niche artist with little inclination to clichés, he made his mark by always remaining independent and managing to give his sound the vital boost that made him loved by his audience right away.
DJ BONE from DETROIT
But the question on everyone's mind is "where did this guy come from?"
Eric Dulan falls into that category of DJs and music producers whose sole purpose is to set the floor of the best clubs around the world ablaze. No rules, no limits, just a desire to have fun and enjoy himself, doing what he does best: being at the console. Nothing more and nothing less.
Underlying this thinking is a continuous musical research and a desire to take risks even at the cost of risking the image of being a "popular" DJ.
Bone is a DJ in the true sense of the word: during his performances it is as if the turntables and mixer become a physical extension of his body, so much so that each performance is unique, almost surreal, as if it were his last.
His record labels, Subject Detroit and Encounter, fully confirm his vision of underground music and show the true essence of Techno Soul from his hometown of Detroit. Futuristic sounds and experimental melodies tell a lot about his incredible personality and talent developed from a young age.
Bone experienced firsthand the excitement, passion, and energy of Techno born within the walls of Detroit's clubs, beginning his journey at the Music Institute and then rocking the genre's fans in his city's most exclusive clubs. From there he gained a dedicated following that eventually led him to play at three different clubs, five nights a week, as well as several parties also in his city. His career got a further boost through his appearance on the Deep Space Radio program on 107.5 in Detroit.
Bone is currently focusing all his energies on his innovative record projects; the idea is to give more and more space and the best of current underground production.
Beyond: subterranean ideals and futuristic sounds
We cannot fail to mention one of his most successful works. Beyond is not just a collection but a transposition of his journey of growth within the music scene in his hometown of Detroit.
A complete and physical reflection on his emotional and psychedelic contribution to contemporary techno, Beyond sees Eric Dulan enter a musical state that reflects his idea of sound in the highest conception of the term, celebrating underground ideals in a style that could only be his own.
Bone was able to give concrete sound to his incredible wave of creativity, combining the cathartic concept of soul and energy, which is essential to his vision of "underground" music.
Through Beyond, listeners can immerse themselves in an unstoppable sequence of tracks that are as overwhelming as they are unexpected: track after track his passion for experimentation and musical research emerges.
"Dreamers 7″ reaffirms his taste for unusual electronica as he revels in mixing and blurring the boundaries between ideal underground sounds and futuristic influences on tracks like "Techno Aint Techno" and "Ahhh Life," further reinforcing his reputation as a master of Techno on tracks like "True Definition" and "Rosedale Park."
DJ Bone, while remaining a niche artist, has managed to make his way in a terrain that is as dynamic as it is risky, always remaining true to his musical vision.
